CMG Temporarily Down (edit: Up Again!)

CMG will be temporarily offline (archived) as two of their mods are out of the picture briefly with important personal matters to attend to.

ETA back up is Wednesday.

No this doesn’t have anything to do with any of the wild speculation going around. You’re all just maniacs and the group would literally burst into flames if left unattended.

Updated 11/28/18:

CMG is back up now, but not before a bunch of childish attacks and trolling aimed at Jo, who was in the midst of grieving a grave personal tragedy.

Creating Talismans to Ensure the Proper Spirit Appears

This article is a continuation of my previous work titled ‚ÄúOn Agrippa‚Äôs ‚ÄėOf the calculating Art of such names by the tradition of the Cabalists‚Äô‚ÄĚ and assumes the spirit-names are derived through the methods explained therein.

When a Mage is open and engaging directly with entities, it is important to be able to identify and verify that the spirit is the one the Mage intended to call ‚Äď not a possible demonic imposter. This is a rare occurrence, especially if the practitioner is diligent about the consecration and maintenance of the space in which they are working. Luckily, this is easily done through the creation of a talisman ‚Äď the process is fairly easy and adds an extra layer of certainty when working with new spirits. They can also be used as a kind of ‚Äúspeed dial‚ÄĚ once initial contact has been made, making communion with a particular spirit much more convenient.

This specific method only works with ‚Äúgood‚ÄĚ spirits, that meaning names created through using ‚ÄúThe Entrance of Good‚ÄĚ – evil spirits are confused and repelled by palindrome squares.

First, start by drawing a 3×3 grid, placing the three letters of the spirit name (without a suffix) around the outside edge of the square, starting from two diagonally opposite corners. The center of each outside row and column should match as should the top right to the bottom left corner, and the top left to the bottom right, leaving the center blank.

Second, calculate the neurological total of your name. This is done by converting the individual letters to numbers using this chart, adding them together to reach an initial total, then adding the individual digits together to reach a final total. This is the “magic constant‚ÄĚ of your square.

Next, solve for the middle value. Find the total of your middle letter twice (the total of the center column and row while it still has a blank spot). Take this initial total and subtract it from the initial total from the previous step, if the difference is 1-9 or divisible by 10, simply find the corresponding letter. If the difference is greater than 9 and not divisible by 10, reduce the total of the two middle letters, and subtract it from the reduced total from the previous step, then assign to an appropriate letter. You must make sure that when you have finished, each row and column results in the same magic constant.

If you would like to add color to your talisman, color each square with a color appropriate to the number of the letter found inside.

On the reverse side, draw a grid with the appropriate number of square for the Magic Square corresponding to the Planetary Presidency of the Spirit you intend to call. Using this square, determine a sigil by connecting the letters of the spirits full name (three letters + suffix). Color this side the appropriate color for the planet the square corresponds to, using a color that corresponds to the ruling planet of the Zodiac Intelligence of the Spirit.

This talisman is essentially a copy of the Spirit’s business card ‚Äď one side providing the name and qualities of the spirit, the other a reflection of what I like to think of as it’s ‚Äúenergy signature‚ÄĚ. The talisman itself should leak a subtle energy identical to the spirit it represents ‚Äď by comparing this energy to the feeling that occurs as a spirit appears, a Mage can determine the spirit’s identity. Once initial ritual contact with a spirit has been made and a relationship established, these talismans can also be used to contact the spirit directly either for communication or use of their gifts/energy, activated through triggers including prayer, mantra, mudra, meditation, or idiosyncrasy.

Use of Tarot Cards to Call Forth Spirits in Absence of Astrological Cooperation

This article is a continuation of my previous work titled ‚ÄúOn Agrippa‚Äôs ‘Of the calculating Art of such names by the tradition of the Cabalists’‚ÄĚ and assumes the spirit-names are derived through the methods explained therein.

When calling spirits it is useful to create an environment from which they can emerge naturally ‚Äď an energy structure that provides the correct triggers to construct a connection to the intended spirit. The most powerful of these, in my opinion, is when the Spirit’s corresponding planet is rising in its corresponding sign, followed by the corresponding day of the week while the correct sign is coming over the horizon. However, both of these methods assume that the mage has time to wait for the proper energy to come around again naturally which, in the case of the first method could take years, or in the second up to a week. Luckily, there are other tools we can use to pull these same triggers when the stars just do not align ‚Äď or when they do and we want to give the spell an extra push. In this article, I will walk through using Tarot Cards for this effect.

The Major Arcana of the Tarot has been connected to the Hebrew alphabet since the mid 18th century and were solidified into the predominant Kabbalistic system by Eliphas Levi and Theosophy in the 19th. They have been designated as such. I do not agree with the astrological associations found on this chart

Selecting the Cards

Select the cards that correspond to the three letters selected for your spirit name from the Major Arcana. Arrange these in a triangle, first letter in the top, the next in the bottom right, then the third in the bottom left.

Next choose a card from the Minor Arcana that represents the specific situation that you need help in, if you are seeking a spirit to help you grow in a specific way, it may be useful to choose two cards ‚Äď one representing your current situation and one representing where you wish to grow to; typically these two cards are in the same suit. The Suit of Air relates to positions of Authority and Influence. The Suit of Fire relates to areas of Knowledge and Learning. The Suit of Water relates to aspects of Relationships and Emotions. The Suit of Earth relates to problems with Possessions and Material Wealth. A tarot reading or similar act of divination is a useful way to determine what these cards may be. If you choose one ‚Äď place it in the center of the triangle, if you chose two, place them on either side.

Energizing and Casting

Find the corresponding Elemental Invoking Pentagram for the element of the card(s) chosen from the Minor Arcana. Overlay it on your chosen cards, and trace it starting in the correct point and moving in the correct direction ‚Äď note the order of the cards and write down the letters associated with each in that order. The center is associated with the two side points of the pentagram if only one card was chosen. This order is the seal and mantra you will use to charge the environment. An additional prayer may also be constructed out of the letters being used, if the Magus chooses, using certain acrostic Pslams.

First cleanse, sanctify, or prepare in whichever way your paradigm dictates. Then, starting in the direction corresponding to the element of the spirit visualize and cast the seal in each direction while intoning the mantra (both determined by the previous paragraph). From there, using the the cards as a focus on your altar, call the spirit in any way deemed fitting, according to which methods are most comfortable and useful for the Magus.

I hope this article has been useful and all readers were able to find something they could use!

Use of Entheogens to Assist in Achieving Gnosis

Hallucinogenic Drugs have had a stigma attached to them through the decline in their therapeutic and spiritual use and subsequent rise in purely recreational use (and abuse). This stigma (as well as political motivation) lead to their criminalization. Recently, the therapeutic value of many of these drugs is being re-examined ‚Äď both their effects in controlled medium-to-large doses in specific environments and in day-to-day microdoses ‚Äď and reintroduced to society. I believe that alongside this, we should also examine their spiritual uses ‚Äď which typically involves taking large doses in completely and expertly controlled environments as a sacrament during ritual to induce Gnosis. In the following document I hope to outline the practical application of a few of these sacraments, focusing on DMT, Psilocybin, and LSD.

DMT can be consumed either orally as Ayahuasca (though other plants added to the mix will a¬≠ffect the experience), orally alongside an MAOI as Pharmahuasca, or vaporized. DMT has been referred to as ‚ÄúThe Spirit Molecule‚ÄĚ, due to the intense and distinctly spiritual nature of the experience, and ‚ÄúThe Businessman’s Trip‚ÄĚ, as when DMT is vaporized the effects only last around 15 minutes with distinctly stimulant-like increase in mood as an aftereffect. A large (typically 55-65 mg, vaporized) or ‚Äúbreakthrough‚ÄĚ dose of DMT will lead to a state of Syncretic Gnosis. Once ingested, you will find yourself transported to another world where you are able to interact with entities typically either in a party or board meeting like setting, typically returning with a message, goal, or lesson learned. Which entities are present, the specific setting, and subsequent interaction will be affected and directed by the preceding ritual and personal paradigm. DMT is particularly useful for contact or identification of specific entities and Gods, divination, and spirit/energy healing. DMT works best when used for contact with ‚Äúhigh vibration‚ÄĚ/right-hand path/angelic and neutral entities, Salvinorin A is a better choice if the spirit in question is distinctly ‚Äúlow vibration‚ÄĚ/left hand path/demonic, though DMT will usually still work.

Psilocybin is the psychedelic component found in over 200 species of Magic Mushrooms. Psilocybin is ingested orally either by eating dried mushrooms or drinking a tea made from them. Doses starting at Terrence McKenna’s famous ‚Äúfive grams, by yourself, in a dark room‚ÄĚ and higher will induce a state of Transcendent Gnosis, lasting 4-8 hours, however, it is worth noting that not all mushrooms are created equal and some are much more potent than others – be careful! In this state you are able to remember your godhood and feel the connection of all consciousness. This state is ideal for channeling and invocation work, as well as for simply examining consciousness and growing closer to Godhood. Psilocybin is best used for examining the Divinity in yourself and other humans ‚Äď though it also makes you aware of any spirits in your immediate location, Mescaline is better for ‚Äúvision quests‚ÄĚ or examining the Divinity in yourself and your community in relation to external transcendent and local spirits.

Alongside LSD, I would like to mention LSA and LSH. These drugs vary in specific effect and strength, but all work as a door to the subconscious. They are the most ‚Äúrecreational‚ÄĚ of the psychedelic drugs and create a state where your subconscious mind merges with your conscious mind, creating a kind of Local Gnosis, which elevates your consciousness closer to Godhood, while maintaining your individual identity and stay rooted in your physical body (DMT distances you from the physical but you maintain your identity, Psilocybin distances you from individual identity but you stay rooted in the physical). This is useful for ‚Äúself hypnosis‚ÄĚ, spell casting, enchantment, and learning/practicing new magical techniques and paradigms, as the effects of the drug allow an image and meaning to be quickly burned into your subconscious, where it will remain when you return to baseline sobriety. However, this also makes these drugs dangerous, especially in high doses‚Äď external influences can act as a kind of brainwashing and cause persistent changes to a person’s thought patterns.

Obviously this is not a comprehensive list of Entheogens and drugs that have spiritual potential, just a quick examination of some of the common ones that can be used for each of the kinds of Gnosis sought through ritual. All information gathered and presented is for entertainment and research purposes only, as these substances remain illegal for the most part.

On Agrippa’s ‚ÄúOf the calculating Art of such names by the tradition of the Cabalists‚ÄĚ

In Agrippa’s Third Book of Occult Philosophy there are several chapters dedicated to methods of how to calculate the names and times of a specific spirit (evil or good) to aid in a work. In this article I am going to dive into one of these, chapter 27 ‚ÄúOf the calculating Art of such names by the tradition of the Cabalists‚ÄĚ, which I find to be the most straightforward. It is recommended that the magus has a solid understanding of Astrology and at least a passing knowledge of the Alephbet.
Each name consists of three letters selected from a set of two tables, followed by a suffix (commonly -el, -yah, and other two-letter names of God).
Chose first letter is chosen based on which area life the Mage is seeking aid in. This letter is best chosen based on the attributions of the letters found in the Sephir Yetzirah, an old Kabbalistic text that describes the sacred Cube of Space. The letter can also be chosen based on the archetypes of the Major Arcana Cards found in a Tarot pack and the letter it is commonly associated with or Numerology of any sort – whichever the Mage is more familiar with.
The second letter is chosen based on the Planetary Presidency the Mage requires. The Planetary Presidency is essentially which planetary sphere (or Sephiroth if you prefer) you would like the spirit to come from; Sol/Sun relates to the Spirit (Tipharet), Luna/Moon relates to Desire (Yesod), Mercury relates to the Mind (Hod), Venus Relates to the Body (Netzach), Mars relates to Action (Geburah), Jupiter relates to Meditation and Contemplation (Chesed), Saturn relates to Duty, Finality, and Rebirth (Chokmah, Binah, Kether). Once you have found the appropriate planet, find the correct column on the first table in Agrippa Chapter 27 and trace it down to the horizontal row corresponding to the first letter you chose. Be careful! Take care to select the right row ‚Äď each side of the chart has a column of first letters, one use to call good spirits, the other evil.
The third letter is chosen based on the Zodiac Intelligence the Mage needs to handle a problem. The Zodiac Intelligence is how the spirit will approach the problem and what kind of help or advice it will give, essentially it is the spirits personality. It is common to choose a sign based on one found in the Mage’s (or Client’s if the spell is being performed for another person) natal chart if that area of their personality directly relates to the work at hand. However, this may not always be practical depending on the speed that the planet relating to your second later moves through the Zodiac. If this is the case, it may be practical to choose the sign the planet you chose is in/rising in. Once you have determined the sign needed, find the correct column on the second table in Agrippa Chapter 27 and trace it down to the horizontal row corresponding to the letter you found based on the Planetary Presidency.
Once you have your name consisting of three letters, a short suffix is usually added to the end to add to the power of the spirit. Common suffixes are YOD-HEH (yah) and ALEPH-LAMED (ial/el/al) and other traditional two-letter names of God. I have also begun to experiment with my own suffixes, created to add a specific spin to the spell I am calling the spirit for ‚Äď these are based on my understanding of the Magic nature of the Alephbet and the Serphir Yetzirah, and I encourage others to dive in and do the same!
Now that you have the proper name to call the spirit to charge your talisman (for later use) or cast your spell you need to find the proper time to do it ‚Äď essentially when the spirit will be available naturally. There are two ways to deduce when is the proper time. This first, which is the more effective of the two in my opinion, is charging the talisman/casting your spell as the planet represented in your second letter is coming over the horizon in the sign represented in your first letter. For example, when Venus rises in Leo or Mercury in Capricorn. The second way, which is easier to do more regularly, is charging your talisman or casting your spell on the day of the week that corresponds with the Planetary Presidency you are working with, as the sign that you chose for your Zodiac Intelligence is coming over the Horizon. The days of the week relate to the Presidencies as follows: Sunday relates to Sol/Sun, Monday relates to Luna/Moon, Tuesday relates to Mars, Wednesday relates to Mercury, Thursday relates to Jupiter, Friday relates to Venus, and Saturday relates to Saturn. The most effective, of course, is if you can combine the two.
I Hope this has been a useful article and all readers put this technique to use!
